Managing Associate Attorney
Licensed in Illinois
Haley Guion works with a wide range of solo and small private practices, including physicians, nurse practitioners, therapists, and med spa owners, on the legal issues involved in starting, operating, and growing a practice. Her work includes practice formation and startup, physician employment contracts and contract review, HIPAA policies and compliance, along with other transactional and regulatory matters. She also advises clients on MSO and management services agreements, including arrangements between management companies and healthcare practices, and on legal issues affecting concierge medicine and other private-pay models.
Background and Experience
Haley draws on her experience as an attorney in the Office of the Illinois Senate President when advising clients on complex legal and regulatory issues. In that role, she counseled state senators on insurance legislation and administrative rulemaking. She is adept at explaining legislative developments, including the interplay between different layers of federal, state, and local legislation that impact healthcare practitioners’ rights and responsibilities.
Haley studied English at the University of Wisconsin in Madison before earning her Certificate in Health Care Law from the DePaul University College of Law. She was an editor of the DePaul Journal of Health Care Law and a member of DePaul’s Health Law Transactional Moot Court Team.
She began her career at a nonprofit association, researching policy proposals that impact medical education, before transitioning to public service and ultimately joining Jackson LLP. Haley’s work has been published in the DePaul Journal of Health Care Law and the Illinois Bar Journal. Her articles examine consumer protection laws and genetic privacy.
In her role as Managing Associate Attorney, Haley is charged with guiding the professional development of the firm’s junior attorneys and law clerks. In collaboration with the partners, she is responsible for managing the individual workloads of the junior attorneys and law clerks, providing professional mentorship, and participating in the attorney and law clerk hiring process.
Outside the office, Haley donates blood regularly, plays the cello, and enjoys reading narrative non-fiction. In her spare time, she is teaching herself the Danish language. She lives in Evanston with her dog, Clarence.
